You can color your hair in a variety of ways, without going salon. The art of hair coloring is centuries old. In the ancient times, people simply used natural dyes like Henna and Indigo to dye their hair. This article will guide you to use homemade natural hair dye and condition your hair naturally.

Henna –

Henna is most beneficial in its natural form so It is very important to make sure that the henna you are using is 100% organic. It is permanent hair dye and its vibrancy may last up to four weeks. The tannin in Henna actually binds with your hair to make it stronger and gives very good color. It does not fade easily and it does not penetrate the hair cortex causing minimum damage.

Mixing it with brewed coffee or tea adds a tint of color brown to your hair naturally. Also add some hair oil as Henna makes hair dry after application.

Before you apply Henna, wash your hair with your regular shampoo to clean your hair and scalp.

Henna Usage –

  1. Take a iron bowl. Mix a cup of Henna powder and a warm cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee together to get a smooth, consistent paste. Add some hair oil 1-2 spoon.
  2. Keep it overnight.
  3. Add a few drops of Lemon juice and hair oil (1-2 spoon) in the morning and mix well.
  4. Apply this to your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse well with water, repeating as many times as you need. Do not use shampoo.
  6. Next day wash your hair with a shampoo.

Coffee –

Coffee can be used to dye hair temporarily , it works best for light brown hair and isn’t much effective for dark hair. You need to use the coffee conditioner multiple times for to cover up your grey hairs. Repeat this process the next day to get even darker color. When you got the right color, you need to use the coffee twice a month.

Caffeine in coffee can help stimulate hair growth and stop hair loss. Organic coffee powder is best for topical use on your hair.

Coffee Usage –

  1. Coffee with Coconut oil – Heat up a quarter cup of coconut oil at low temperature and add a 1 tablespoon of roasted coffee. Brew and stir so it doesn’t burn. Sieve and apply once a week before hair wash.
  2. Coffee, lemon and yogurt – Take one cup of plain yogurt, one tablespoon of coffee powder and some lemon juice in a bowl. Stir and apply the mask on hair. Wash hair with lukewarm water after 30-40 minutes.

Carrot Juice –

If you want to give your hair a reddish-orange color , try carrot juice. Depending upon your hair color , it will last a few weeks.

Carrot Juice Usage –

  1. Take carrot juice quantity according to your requirement and add some coconut oil. Mix well.
  2. Apply the mixture to your hair.
  3. Wrap your hair in plastic and let the mixture set for an hour.

Beetroot Juice –

If you are looking for a deeper red tint , use beet juice instead of carrot juice. Usage process is same as carrot juice.

Beetroot Juice Usage –

  1. Take beetroot juice quantity according to your requirement and add some coconut oil. Mix well.
  2. Apply the mixture to your hair.
  3. Wrap your hair in plastic and let the mixture set for an hour.
